Inside the villa
Villa Murat stands in the old village of Annunziata above Massa Lubrense, among Mediterranean paths, houses with traditional vaulted roofs and beautiful viewpoints. In October 1808 the King of Naples, Joachim Murat, chose the villa as his headquarters for the siege and recapture of Capri. Today it has been carefully renovated, keeping its antiques, frescoed ceilings and historic details.
* Ground floor: a remarkable living area with antiques, period furniture, comfortable sofas and frescoed ceilings. There are two very large king-size bedrooms with original period floors and vaulted ceilings. The first has an en-suite bathroom and opens onto a sea view veranda and a private shaded terrace with a wrought-iron trellis. The second, full of natural light, has an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub. The two bedrooms connect, ideal for families or groups.
* First floor: a grand marble staircase leads up to vaulted ceilings and period furniture. There is a frescoed salon with sofas and views towards Capri, a wide corridor with seating areas, and a formal dining room opening onto the panoramic terrace. This floor has two king-size bedrooms, one of which once hosted King Joachim Murat, and a twin bedroom, served by three bathrooms along the corridor, one with a bathtub.
Air conditioning is available in all bedrooms and living areas.
