Villa delle Ortensie is a five-bedroom villa near Sorrento with a design rarely found in holiday homes. Curved walls, round towers and flowing lines give it a look all its own, and at its heart a sculptural staircase rises beneath a double-height ceiling to link the two floors.
Ground floor
The recently renovated kitchen is built around a central island, with an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, Nespresso machine and a traditional Italian moka pot. It opens onto the dining area and a large living room filled with light from wide windows and French doors. From the sofas you look out over the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, and the doors lead straight out to the terraces and gardens. A Smart TV makes it an easy place for the whole group to gather in the evening.
* Tower bedroom: one of the villa's most memorable rooms. Set inside a curved tower, it has an elegant round double bed and windows looking out to Vesuvius, the Gulf of Naples and the gardens.
* Second double bedroom: bright and comfortable, with a 170 x 200 cm bed.
* Bathrooms: a modern full bathroom with a large walk-in shower, and a guest bathroom with geometric ceramic tiles that reflect the villa's original character.
First floor
Upstairs, a bright hallway opens onto the villa's most spectacular feature: a panoramic sea-view terrace that runs the full width of the house.
* Master suite: king-size bed, Smart TV and large glass doors onto the terrace, framing views of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples. The private bathroom follows the villa's curves, with natural stone, double basins and an oversized walk-in rainfall shower.
* Two more double bedrooms: 170 x 200 cm beds, each opening directly onto the terrace with views across the bay and coastline.
* Two full bathrooms: one with a natural-stone walk-in shower, the other with handmade blue tiles and a double vanity inspired by Southern Italian coastal tradition.
Every bedroom has air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, a mini fridge and a personal safe.
The panoramic terrace
Reached from all three upstairs bedrooms and the hallway, the terrace works as an outdoor living room, with lounge seating and uninterrupted views over the Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius and the coast. It's the spot for morning coffee, a quiet read in the afternoon and drinks at sunset.
Gardens, pool and football pitch
Mature trees, wide lawns and colourful hydrangeas, the flowers the villa is named after, surround the house. There are outdoor dining and lounge areas, a gas barbecue, a traditional pizza oven (used by Feeling Italy staff for in-villa dining) and a private swimming pool (6 x 3 x 1 metres).
One of the villa's best family features is its private football pitch. Set on its own lawn with two goals, it gives children, teenagers and adults space for matches and games surrounded by greenery and views. It's something few private villas can offer, and it makes Villa delle Ortensie a great choice for families travelling with children and for groups who want to have fun without leaving the property.
